This is an introduction in what it takes to become a beekeeper and costs £130. You will learn:
- Introduction to the Ealing and District Beekeepers Association
- Components of a hive and the different types available
- Origins and the life cycle of a honey bee
- Swarming
- Queen rearing
- Importance as pollinators
- Year in the Apiary
- Products of the hive
- Harvesting and selling honey
- Healthy bees and pests
- Brood diseases and Adult diseases
Six classroom sessions will be held from 7-9pm on Thursdays at the Greenford Community Centre, on the following dates: 30th January, 6th February, 13th February, [break for half-term], 27th February, 6th March, 13th March.
There will be also be four practical sessions on Saturdays at our local apiary during April, May and June (dates to be arranged later).
